Historical Significance of Panch Kedars
We need to look back to the Mahabharata times to understand its historical significance. These Panch Kedars belong to the aftermath of Mahabharat, the story when all the Pandava brothers wanted to visit Lord Shiva to get free from their sins of killing their relatives. When Mahadev came to know that the Pandavas were coming to meet him, he became displeased and took the form of a bull to hide. But somehow Bhim recognized him among so many bulls, as one looked distinct from others. Lord Shiva then disappeared and different parts of his body were established in separate temples, which we call Kedars.
